Artist's Comments

Another Ukiyo-e picture. The background is cherry, kimono is mahagony & curly maple, with a walnut obi (sash) & walnut butterflies.
Overall dimensions: 13-1/2" by 18" (Excluding frame, approximately). The only part of this picture that I'm not happy with is the
paper She's writing on -- the ink from her writing bled into the paper so that it looks smudged.

I totally love ukiyo-e, as well as woodwork - especially pieces like this. I'm really suprised with how you've managed to craft all the folds and details in her kimono.

Have those characters been made with a burner pen or something?

The characters were placed in the picture using an ink/shellac mixture (tattooed as it were) over small cuts in the veneer.
